The only thing that I still have to consciously remind myself is the direction of the upshifts and downshifts. In my Hondas, pushing forward is upshift and in the e60 pushing forward is downshift and I had a shock of my life when I was speeding up and had intended to upshift when I pushed the selector forward and that almost red lined the rpm.

I've found that if you let off the throttle as you upshift, you can indeed make the car "feel" like you are driving a manual. Unfortunately, it doesn't work as well with hard acceleration. Just don't mistakenly slam your foot on the brake thinking it is the clutch!
