In a 2008 LCI the power, to the USB port in the console, remains ON after shutting off the car. Seems odd since it could run down the battery. Is there a setting or fix so that the power to the USB port shuts off when the car is shut off?

I'm pretty sure it's not always powered. What makes you think it is?

It's not always powered -- it'll shut down with a zillion other things when the car enters sleep mode (when nothing is touched for about 16 minutes...)

Thanks. Hope my reply is not posted twice. I plugged a USB 8GB flashdrive into the USB port and the stick glows - indicating proper working order. When I shut off the car the stick continues to glow indicating it is still powered by the auto system - since there is no independent power aboard the flash drive. If the USB port is powered, with engine shut off and doors locked, one is relegated to unpluggin the USB stick everytime you leave the car... Thanks.

But what Rudy is saying is that it will remain on for 16 minutes after the car it turned off then it will power off. A usb stick is such a low drain in the battery anyway about 4mA I think it would take a VERY long time to run it down.

Way ahead of you, my friend...

It'll shut down as I described, trust me!

+1, once the car goes into sleep mode it will power down/shut off. it comes on again as you unlock the car and the electronics turn on making it seem like it was never off...

Thank you, Gentlemen. You were spot on! When I shut off the car the stereo and flash drive continue playing for no one, for about 16 minutes - then it all turns off. I am used to my old 740i - when I shut off that car and leave - everything turns off. Thanks again, Gents!

I've read where pressing the stop/start button twice, when powering down the car, will COMPLETELY power it down -thus avoiding the stereo playing for 16 minutes after I go into my home at night... I'll try it tonight.
