Default USB / AUX Ports Stopped Working - Ideas?

Good Afternoon All -

My wife has an E60 2008 BMW 528i with iDrive which has had a couple of issues recently. I was going to see if anyone had suggestions for one of them.

In her arm rest compartment, she has two USB ports and an AUX 3.5mm input. For the first couple of years she had the car, they worked perfectly by plugging something in and tuning iDrive to the AUX selection or whatever the USB was.

As of a couple of months ago, both the USB or AUX ports stopped working altogether. In fact, the AUX menu shows up on the iDrive, but turning the knob will not allow her to select it.

I've checked standard fuses, but so far that's about it. Going to take a closer look today.

Any Ideas?

Thanks!

Check fuse F37 (see pic) first. If it's OK your MULF2 High or USB Hub (if equipped) module is likely kaput.

Cars equipped with MULF2 High have Aux in arm rest compartment. Rear of the center console is connected directly to your Head Unit. It's fairly simple setup - a wire to HU - to break. Was it working before? Do you have AUX submenu in iDrive

I can't select "usb" from my Idrive either. the headphone jack input works fine, but there is no power to the usb connector, and the BMW ipod connector doesn't work either.

I ahve an '08. I guess I'll check for that f37 fuse, too.

Update:

Checked the fuse: It's a 5A fuse and it was fine. I checked alot of the fuses there and didn't find any blown fuses.

Bluetooth works? If not MULF2H module is likely dead. If it works - you need to check USB hub

I vote for the USB Hub to be tested/replaced first. Its about 90 bucks. i have a couple threads about this as I had this issue and it turned out to be the usbb hub. If the battery was recently tinkered with or replaced then my bet is its the USB HUB.
