Is there evidence of an e60 innovation which was to later apply to all global markets ever being introduced in the US prior to its introduction outside the US?

iPod adapter?
But I meant a BMW innovation as part of an MY launch, not third party manufacturers.

My Ride: On Order as of May 6- 2007 530i Titanium Grey and Grey Leather, with Sport Package, Premium Pkg, Cold Pkg.
2006 Porsche Boxster
When I worked at Apple the product managers sent stuff to Japan first for tests. Japan is the techno center of the world. Cell phone companies follow suit too.
Have no idea if this is the case for autos though.

I'm cheesed off with the "our MY is better than your MY" argument [MY=Model Year or Marketing Year] and I wanted to see if indeed the US got anything "global" first with their e60s other than the next year's number on models introduced elswhere the autumn/fall before but BMW having to budget 6 months in case different emissions certification is needed on new engines!

I think it's normally the other way around. The EU will often see options that will only later make it to the US market.
Allways Europe first.
