Hello all, quick question....
I may be getting a company transfer from my current NY location to England, driving a 525i now.....
Besides the headlights tilting in the wrong direction, LHD steering (tons of ex-pats still have their cars in the UK), and no rear fogs, is this car the same mecanically as it's UK equivalent?
Thinking about this in the future, I tried to get the easiest car for export...are there differences in the emissions systems, cats, etc....hmmm
Thanks!

Why not just pick up a motor here ?? the hassle you will have will be not worth it IMHO, let alone the shipping costs ????
You sure your car doesnt have rear fogs? Sure your not confusing that with rear reflectors ( which we require in UK car tests ) ?

Yes, I'm afraid you will have to learn to talk English.
Seriously, there may be a number of problems with importing your car.
You will need to get specialist advice.

Queensbury rules and a bunch of fives and all that.
Oh wait, that's not a plus point.
Cars in the UK are not that expensive these days and the sterling is a bit weak at the moment.
I would be more inclined to get a car in the UK.
Aside from all the hassle of bringing yours over, driving on the wrong side of the car in the UK will drive you mental.
It's not like the US where the roads can all hold a 747. It's bendy and twisty and come summer it's festooned with caravans and you'll spend your days at 30mph asking your passenger to verify the status of the oncoming traffic.
Sl?n agus beanacht,
