Why should a diesel be less reliable than a petrol?

Because people drive a petrol from 100+ years .
Steve, sorry, it's not my guilt .

And the consumption of the 535d/535i is very similar .

The 535i remains the best choice, in US, now .

The comparasion 545i vs. 535d isn't fare in any way. It's impressive that the 535d almost can keep up to the much more powerful 545i though.

And last time I checked it was the 523i/525i/530i having engine problems, not any of the diesel models. So don't come here saying that petrol is more reliable in this case.

It doesn't keep up, indeed
18s vs 24.5s in the 0-200 is another planet .
(Or 33s vs 40s from 0 to 250)

Otherwise the 545i/550i "almost can keep up to the much more powerful" M5, that needs only 15s .

This is your experience .

Agreed!

ps.
You know that 545i and 550i are two different models? It's like if I was saying 530d/535d in every post.

Hi Alex

So Diesel engines being around since 1893 isnt 100+ years?

Not a glamourous comparison, but you dont see trucks blowin up all over the place.....

I was right, I didn't need your agreement .

You are *completely* mad or ignorant : the 535d has a different engine (and 2 turbochargers), the 550i is the same engine (N62 and N62T) with +7% power and +30 Kg weight .
With other words, get a complete custom exhaust and the 545i will go like the 550i .

(The steptronic 545i is faster than the manual/SMG 550i indeed)

Sorry man, too many BS today .

I drove some diesel cars . A friend of mine owns a diesel V8 biturbo (mercedes E400 cdi, remapped) .

It's not so bad, but when we tried to race from the traffic light or a rolling start ...... When we make 0-100 or 0-200 videos on the motorway .. he is slower . And he got +50 HP from the remap, not 5-8 like me .
