Guess you didn't get the point I was making.

Not saying that its blocking my vison out the back window. We in the US don't have to look for approaching aircraft while sitting in the drivers seat and peering out the top portion of the rear window. But it is nice to have all functioning rear brake lights TOTALLY visable from fog or whatever is blocking rear window to cars approaching from the rear. Whats the point of the center rear mounted tail light if its not visable.

Just saying it was strange that BMW would not include wires to clear this area since its 3 inches from the area it already clears.

After seeing this video... Are you sure?

Usually the area is visible, and usually those lines are used. But on certain cars they aren't. They just have the problem that there are too many features in the car. If you get them all, they need to put the aerial somewhere. And the top part is the best part of the rear window. The light can bes seen through the ice, and there are two more brake lights on the rear end of the car.

Hey, here is how you can clear the mentioned area from ice. Sit in the car and leave your foot on the brake pedal. Somewhen, the heat from the LED's will melt down the ice...

For anybody who lives in a cold climate, doesn't have comfort access, and hasnt read the "neat tricks" thread...

Get in your car, start it. Then switch it off. Take the key fob out. Put your foot on the brake and start the car again ... it will start without the key! Now, switch on your heated seats, put your heater on full, demister/defroster buttons etc etc. Get out of your car and lock it, and take the keys in the house with you. Your car is now running and heating up without risk of theft, as it's locked and you have the keys. Go back out five minutes later to your nice toasty car, unlock it, and drive off! You can put the key back in if you want, or just leave it in your pocket, just don't forget to take it with you !!

And if you have comfort access, you can just lock the car while it's running (keeping the key in your pocket) and you can warm the car the same way...
