Jander17, I just did an upgrade to my 545i w/ HiFi audio system using an aftermarket amp. Here's a link to my thread for more info, but in a nutshell I used Technic's harness for plug n play installation and a 5 ch Alpine amp. I did all the work myself and it came out sounding far better than the stock sound or even the Logic7 sound system. And that's before I even put in the new mid subs and Logic7 front components.

HF, I haven't installed any new speakers yet and I'm extremely happy with the improvement in sound. The OEM speakers really came alive with proper power which is why I haven't been in a rush to put in the L7 front components or Rainbow mid subs.

OEM M shift knob, M door access panels, M5 deck lid spoiler, M5 steering wheel & cover. WeissLicht LED license plate lights, WeissLicht LED smoked additional turn indicators, Xenesis tru-match halos, Xenesis yellow fogs, Solaris Invisibulb front turn signals. Black alcantara w/ M color stitching shift & e-brake boots & Di-noc for interior trim.
I know there is a small difference between the 05 and 08. Most pre-LCI's run M-ASK and LCI's run CCC/CIC. Through my research the only thing that is different should be the voice command capability being added to the CCC, and everthing else should be the same. I'll hit up technic for the harness. I should have started a diy thread with all this and I'll still do it if i have to get back into the door panels for anything else. I'll post updates of the progress guys... thanks!

Glad to hear you'll be getting the harness from Technic. It makes the job much easier and very clean. If you plan on upgrading the mid subs you'll also need spacers for them. Ask Technic about them as well. If not, you can get them from Jason Sherrill, email him at jtsherri at gmail dot com. He makes them for the Earthquake SWS-8 subs. I originally bought a set from Jason to install the SWS-8s but changed my mind and bought some Rainbow mid subs instead. The Rainbows require a different spacer so I now have a spare set of spacers I don't need. PM me if you're interested in them or have any questions about your installation.

I knew you'd be happy goen that route a little xtra power is all the factory speakers need. Look into that Audio Controll EQ I mentioned , it will really clean up the sound and add clairity to the music, u will be amazed with the difference,, it will make it sound like an expensive high end system.

No doubt about it...power really woke it up. After I get the speakers and mid subs in I'll be looking into the EQ1 or JBL MS8 a bit more. Although, I might just be satisfied and leave it alone too...who knows. LOL
