Unsuccessful CIC retrofit

Hi Everyone! Just retrofitted myself my pre LCI E60 to CIC unit that I bought from Latvia. Today I’ve connected to NCSExpert … and what a surprise! Expert saying – “Baureihe fehlerhaft” - mining “seriel error” after I selected E 60. So , I suspect – When they did all the “coding” … they just disregard my VIN that I sent to them and they did it to the previous car body serial. (WTF?) So , Good People! What You think? Regards

your ncs works on other modules properly? did you change date on your FA and added $6VA to FA?

"Expert" didn't get me any further than " serial error" ( in German of course) . And , Thanks Anyway! I've already payed to specialist while I've been waiting for responds in a forum . Thanks again!

Do you have an emulator/ cic adapter installed?

Igor55 08-13-2015 11:12 PM

No. But planing to install.

Good, then the cic doesn't need to be loaded with your vin, the adapter will take care of activating voice and nav provided it's already got fsc codes in it

Yes, But- technician already load the CIC with my VIN, and now - He sayed it is new date of manufacturing ( now it 's 2009)? and real date is 07. of 2004 ... and it's a bit suspicious for me. What you think? But , He suggested to install an emulator . Thanks for your time. Regards.

OK, A few things to consider. I do not understand why you would want your VIN in the CIC, as opposed to using an emulator to trick the system into thinking it is in the original car. The CIC has many many certificates it uses that enable functionality. Certificate for navigation, voice control, sat radio and other things. People focus on the map certificate, but that is NOT the only one. coding it to yours deletes all the other certificates which is not good and fixes the map one.

Use an emulator, I just finished my CIC retrofit and it works great. I had to code KOMBI and the CIC some, and I think I am all done, however want to tweak a few settings. I even got my rear camera working with my emulator. just do not use a cheap emulator.

Not sure what you mean by this? do you mean the car date was 2004 or your CIC was from 2004? What most people have to do, is change the VO for the car to make it an 2010 (0909) so that the NCSexpert software believes your car is one of the few made in 2009 that actually had the CIC as an option. That way your car can see it and code it properly. I need to go back and set my VO year to 2009 as that is what I have (0908) in the system, but it is still set to 2010.

In my humble opinion, as someone who literally just put their car back together in the last 12 hours, this is far from code free, but very do able. in the US it is worse as the CIC does not do audio the same way and disables my amp--my sound sucks until I rewire and replace my factory amp. I have the CIC driving the front speakers only, which is ok for news radio, but marginal for music.
