I posted last week about my car not starting. I picked it up Tuesday and it seems fine, but the print out said "unfavorable driving profile" to which the SA stated that I do not drive enough and my trips are too short. I refused to buy a trickle charger as I think this is a bit absurd. I am on pace to drive right around 12K miles per year. They offer leases with as few as 10K miles per year. If the car "needs" to be driven more, then they should not offer 10Kmiles/year leases.
I have had the same driving habits for the past 7-8 years and never ran into this problem with my S4 or my 330.
Sorry, I will end my rant. I am just a little annoyed to hear shit like this.

I picked it up in mid-November 2007. Only about 4500 miles on it now, but it was in the shop for 4 months. I got the car back from the shop at the end of April.

I fear it may have something to do with the accident. I have 2600 miles on my car. No issues. You should be able to drive your car as little or as much as you'd like without issues like that and certainly without the dealer telling you it's because you dont drive it enough. Thats absurd.

I find it amazing what some of these BMW SA's pull out of their arse sometimes. That could be one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. So basically, in order to own and drive a BMW, it needs to be driven constantly or the car won't work properly? Are they kidding!?!?! That guy should be fired just for saying something so ludicrous. Did you call his boss/manager and talk to him?

Way to go, don't take that dealer s**t!

I have driven with a "unfavorable driving profile" for the last 10 years without any problems.

This is really sad since you'll miss the great car. Maybe another dealer...

That's just crazy, picked up my car 12/30/07, currently have 4990 miles on it..no problems with the battery due to an "unfavorable driving profile".

That's the most idiodic answer to a mechanical problem I have ever heard. We wife drives no more than 5,000 miles a year and we have never had any problems with her cars which have included Honda's, Toyota's, Mercedes and Lexus models.

I wouldn't let it go with that answer and would escalate it up the food chain at the dealeership.

+1

Idiodic was the word I was looking for.

Let the BMW NA hear about this!
