Topic says it all, it is worth it to get an undercoat or is it just a waste of money? Opinions please

Perhaps if you live in Dallas it is a waste of money, but here in Canada with snow? If you drive up to Whistler/Blackcomb in the snow, it may be worth it ...
Perhaps someone who lives in the snow belt in US/Canada/Europe ...

Try mud flaps instead....
