since purchasing my car I noticed that the hash marks around the tach never moved, even when very cold. after looking at the cluster test I confirmed that the hash marks should move. I have been unable to get the cluster test to work. I go into the cluster menu, unlock it, get to 02.__ when the 02.00 comes up, I push to confirm and nothing happens.

I did unlock the cluster. I did notice that it doesnt have the ? after cluster test like I think it should....

could someone else who is smarter than me tell me how to do the cluster test???

thanks

If you're referring to the "temperature gauge" on the tach... I believe that feature was discontinued.
I don't have specifics, but I recall something from many years ago to that effect. The cluster probably still has the functionality, but I don't think it is operational on later model e60s. FYI my '08 does not have that.

I'd love to know if that feature was discontinued! It would save me from being consumed by it!!! I'm pretty sure it is active through 2010 MY. It is on 3,7 series!

As for the cluster test, I did it exactly as the instructions showed. At 02.00 I press it and nothing happens. I tried it with the cluster locked and unlocked! Any other ideas?

Both features referred here (oil temperature in rpm gauge and cluster test in hidden menus) DO NOT work on 5-Series LCI vehicles.

That's the conclusion from testing this on several vehicles. In my 2007 LCI 530d those two features do not work.

Just to add that in US the LCI vehicles are from 2008 on, but in Europe is from 2007 on (the month depends on the country: in Germany was right from the beginning of 2007, while in Portugal was in the second half of the year). That's why my 530d is already LCI with manufacturing date June/2007.
