if you spec a uk car with the media pack do you get the business or pro radio and what actually is the difference between the two systems. I know the pro radio has two tuners but what are the actual benefits?
|
I think it depends on which Nav system you opt for, rather than the media pack per se.
Pro Nav has two tuners so one stays locked to an RDS station for constant TMC updates on screen. |
You'll get the Pro radio.
This allows the system to run things like TMC for the navigation without the need for you to be tuned to Classic FM - the carrier station. You can have a TP (traffic program) while tuned to an AM station Best of all, rather than old fashioned FM presets and Autostore, you get "All Stations" which is a dynamically updated list of all in-range RDS stations available. Much more useful. |
I have an '05 E61 with the media pack and that (as far as I'm aware) has the Professional Radio as part of the Pro Sat Nav. I'm not sure of all the differences either, but I think one is the 'all stations' tab on the FM radio. This (according to my manual and by observation) gives you a page with all the RDS names of the stations the radio can receive at the current location.

But unfortunately it is not a digital radio when you can have twice as many stations.
