I'll ask BMW about it when I see about s/w upgrade + mp3 when I go tomorrow (unless it snows like crazy tonight like they're saying it might).
Unsuccessful trip to BMW dealer (in Stockton) today. The tech guy that came out to look at my radio had never seen the "All Stations" ever be grayed out and suspected it's either because one of the FM tuners had died (pretty unlikely) or it's because the German spec cars are setup differently for their FM network. If it wasn't the modern age of RDS and TMC I'd say that's crazy, but FM isn't just FM anymore. We pretty much agreed it was probably best to wait to see if it comes back when I get home to Germany. If he were to "fix it" so it's fine here in the UK, then I might get the reverse effect when I'm home (which would be worse).

As for the MP3 CD and software upgrade. They thought it would be a bad idea to upgrade a German spec car with a UK spec SW upgrade and I can see the logic in that. Oh well never mind. They did initially say though that MP3 wouldn't be possible on my 2004 E60, even when I said it has CCC they looked doubtful. It was only when I showed them the printed-out PDF they started to think they might be wrong. They did say they'd probably need my car up to 4 hours to find out. Going back to the SW upgrade being a bad idea in the UK for me anyway, we just left it alone.
