It is well known that BMW are improving the mpg and therefore emissions of the 520d from September.
Comcar are already using the new figures with the manufacturer's price date of 1st September 2007.
http://www.comcar.co.uk/newcar/companycar/...5calc.cfm?clk=1
Fuel consumption of 55.4 mpg and tax of 18% for the manual version. Incredible.
However, the really impressive news is that they seem to have fixed the problem with automatic cars.
Current fuel consumption: 40.9 mpg
New fuel consumption: 50.4 mpg
That's an incredible 23% improvement.
Admittedly, the figures for the automatic version of the current model were very poor indeed - a 15% drop when choosing the auto over the manual. That's why I didn't choose an auto box.
The current difference is reduced to 9%.
If Comcar is correct, there is no price increase being applied in the UK at least.
My 520d is due for delivery at "The beginning of September." Looks like I'm SOL.
Regards
Martin

missint the big point as well power is up to 177bhp!!!
"The information www.comcar.co.uk displays is always in line with the VCA,
the government body updated by the manufacturers themselves ..."
I've contacted Comcar as they are currently showing different figures to BMW's UK home page. They are going to clarify this on the Comcar site later today.
Looks like BMW have just been a bit slow to update their own information.

Yet the Comcar site isn't showing an increased 0 - 62 mph time. Could it be the power increase is not going to improve acceleration? The figures Comcar quote should be correct as this is what they say:

The existing 520d is still on sale... BMW UK do not update the numbers until the car is officially introduced - dealers want to shift any 'old' cars on the forecourt first. Just quickly looked at the comcar data, it is a mixture of old and new. CO2 emissions have been revised according to VCA, but acceleration figures are not held on VCA.
New car acceleration figures 0-62 8.3s (manual) quoted in the BMW Efficient Dynamics press release end June.
I also saw a figure 8.7s for auto somewhere, but can't find it now...

The new auto should be more like 8.4 as the existing model is 8.7.
Anyway, these are phenomenal figures for emissions and power for a four pot two litre diesel with a single turbocharger.

Hi Lancaster and others,
Message from Comcar-
We have taken the new 520d data off for now until we get clarification from BMW. The much improved CO2 and mpg figures are official per the VCA but prices may change in September. BMW recently improved the CO2 and mpg on a wide range of MINIs without increasing prices, but we cannot assume the same will happen here. Someone got carried away with the new figures and broke our policy of not entering data until the complete data set was confirmed.
Apologies for causing some confusion.
Regards
