YIKES! Ricracing sure does have some strong opinions......
I would hesitate to say that a 540 "sucks'. If you don't like it for the fact that it is lacking some torque, so be it.
As for poor you not getting something you want....GET OVER IT!!
Sorry for giving such a strong statment.

540i vs. 535i scores 0 - 5 or should I say in foorball terms 0 - 7.

Here in EU gasoline cost money and lots!

The best buy would be in EU the 530d.
But its not still a 535i...

No worries Ric. Am familiar with fuel prices in Europe as have UK bride. You do pay WAY too much for go juice.
If I were in your shoes, I would like to see the 535 as well.

And as far as why not on the USA site yet, we do seem to be late across the board in our info as compared to Europe.

Man, iPod, USB and CD changer can be co-exist? Wow!
New transmission with faster shifting? Wow!
Programmable i-Drive buttons? Wow!

We'd rather not reading this release which makes us want to trade car again

Tachyon,

Thank you very much for posting this. It's very cool info!

Wow -

SMG is dead again. The manual transmission continues on. I guess BMW just doesn't think the SMG is ready for prime-time - at least in the US market.

And the 550 Sport is getting pretty close to the E39 M5. I may have to take a trip to my dealer now . . .

btw, thanks. Great post.

An example of an entirely different reaction to yesterday's US responses of "so what?", "can't tell the difference from the pics" etc.

Thanks for the post. I am ecstatic that I told my CA to hold off on ordering a Jan07 build 550 and wait for the facelift with the extra enhancements.

This forum rocks!!!!

Good move. I would wait too. The 550i Sport with the aero kit, 19" wheels, tighter suspension, and tuned axhaust are worth it alone. But the biggie is the new sport auto transmission. I'm very interested to find out more about that.
