I think I was quoted about ?300 when I bought my car last week.

And no I didn't take it out - or the gap insurance, or the supaguard. All things used to bump up the price of your car by the car industry IMHO

Oh, and hello - 1st post

I just rang round and got the following prices

RAC ?91 covering tyres upto ?250 each tye
Firebond ?62.50 covering tyres up to ?150 each tye
Protective-insurance ?38.50 covering upto ?250 each tye

The protective insurance one is the cheapest only there doesnt seem to be any way of buying it off their website.

What is the 'protective-insurance' website?

Do they all cover the same extent of tyre damage and is there an excess payable.

www.protective insurance

They all seem to cover the damage to the same extent, and RAC has an excess of ?10 to pay.

I can't decide whether to bother or not at the RAC prices, hopefully www.protective-insurance.com will get back to me about where it is on their site to buy.

One question is what prices have people had for replacing the 18inch runflats that are on the UK M sport wheels?

RAC has a limit on tyre size of 18"....I'm looking to get cover on tyres of 19" or 20".

Anyone know of an unlimited insurer?

I've tried to access www.protective-insurance.com exactly as you quoted above and the website doesn't appear to exist.

Any links to a relevant site that does exist?

Thanks cravensmythe.

The website states that they cover puntures for up to ?50. The term 'puncture' could cover 95% of all damage to tyres so would they pay up to ?250 if the 'puncture' was not repairable, i.e. replace the tyre? If not, I don't think it is worth it. If they will pay up fully and their term 'puncture' is specific to repairable damage, then the policy looks good. Although, over the last 18 years of driving (around 300,000 miles), I've only had 4 puntures or blow outs. Have I just been lucky?

Please, let me know if you get a reponse from them.
