I am just coming up to requiring my first change of boots on my 535d

I have Conti Sport Contact 2s all round

> F: 245 35 R 19
> R: 275 30 ZR 19

So far, my dealer are quoting ?206.70 for the fronts, and ?236.93 for the rears. I was wondering if anyone has been able to squeeze folk down to a decent price including fitting and everything. Those prices exclude VAT, by the way.

On my X5 19s, the same dealer always managed to blitz the local tyre places, but I doubt they are with these. I just told like letting the Kwik Fit f***ers loose on the ramps with ?45 grands worth of oil burner...

Any help much appreciated

Regards

Paul

The prices you have been quoted would be about right if they included VAT. I used my dealer last time I neded tyres (17" run flats) and they priced matched a local tyre fitting place. I have also used Jeff Fowkes wheels at Ibstock (near Leicester) as he is about the only other place i will trust with my car. Let me know how you get on. Are you going to go for Conti's? I have the same wheel/tyre set up as you and am not over impressed with the conti's, was thinking of Michelin PS2 but they are quite a bit more expensive. TBH how long does it take most people on here to actaully earn the kind of savings we're talking about!

It's a fair point, but to quote someone once "list price is for mugs". The only place I don't barter is Waitrose - everywhere else is a place where you knock the price down a bit. I still get a kick out of getting a deal - no matter what it's on. Over the course of twelve months, it can pay for a nice little treat.....

So look at my links above for fully inclusive prices.

Incidentally a pate hate of mine- it's even on TV.

Doesn't "barter" mean "exchange one set of goods for another".

Is the word you're searching for, "haggle"?

I sit to be corrected as ever.

Only just...

Grab some Michelin PS2's - worth the extra IMHO!!! (About 8-10% dearer than the SC2's)

You are indeed quite correct.

Although I am, of course, swapping some flimsy pieces of paper with numbers on them for the tyres, so that'll be that then.

Phew - don't think anyone noticed that one...

Incidentally - this "pate hate" of yours - is it foie gras?
