Hello all... I just bought a 2004 545i and i did the worx... Oil,plugs, air filter.. now lets get into my issue.. my idle stays moving up and down the slightest bit but its enough to notice it and feel it.. now theres a twist... My speedometer needle dances with it? As the speedometer needle is climbing up it looks like its hoping up... Exactly at the same pace of the idle needle... Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

get to the secret OBD menu, and go to the option which gives you a digital read out of the RPM. My needle moves slightly when idling, but the digital reading is 100% stable, so first check if your digital reading is also moving up and down or not.

You can look on Youtube, there are tons of videos showing how to access the menus. Also, there are multiple threads on here (do a search) that list all the menus(19 I think), sub menu levels etc..

Good Luck!

hmm..measure voltage. sounds like an electrical problem. when you say the speedo moves along with the tach, I'm assuming you're stopped, correct? and is this a stick or an auto?
