so i got a new battery put in and an idle control valve. i got my car back from the shop and the turn signals dont work. however, the same lights are the ones that light up when you lock and unlock the car and the hazards. so the bulbs work and all, just not the turn signals. anyone know what i can do to get them working? Thanks.

If the signals were working properly before your car was serviced and they aren't now ... why should you even be concerned with warranty? I'm sure you used a turn signal within a few hundred feet of leaving the dealer and drove back immediately and said, "What gives?"!!

I feel like I am aware (aka experienced) of just about every "common" problem with E60's and this is the first I have seen someone describe this.

my uncle and friend both drive 06 e60's and both have had their harness changed. my blinker works perfectly now that it has been changed. i opened it and checked for a loose connection but their wasn't any. asked my bmw tech (friend/ dad's friend) and he said its very common. proof enough

Same.

The turn signals a single wire connected to the light module. The light module then sends a K_Can message to turn the turn signals on on and off. The instrument cluster is 'dumb' and simply listens for the K_Can message.

If the signals are not working then either the number 6 wire on the steering column switch is loose or the x1880 connector is loose. I'd wiggle the wires near x1880; it's located near the turn stalk, it's an 8 pin connector, and pin 5 and pin 8 are not used...
