Default Turn signal wiring

I am upgrading my turn signals to LED's on my 2008 535xi. This requires the installation of a load resister. I have attached the instructions... Because there is no direct wiring to the bulbs, I am trying to figure out where to install these load resisters and which wires they attach to. Can anyone offer help as to where and the exact wire to attach to?

Thanks,

Rob Caldwell

I've not installed these myself, but your picture shows it spliced between the + and - of the turn/brake light. The idea is to create a circuit that behaves like a traditional light bulb filament. The car actually sends a fast electric pulse down the wire and detects if the filament is burned out or not. The pulse isn't enough to cause the light bulb to turn on, but it is enough to detect a burned out bulb. I think the car does this at start up and every so often when turned on. The LED doesn't behave the same electrically and causes the car to think the light bulb is burned out.

I guess I assumed that everyone knew that there is no direct wires to the turn signal bulb like indicated in those instructions. I understand the circuit and how it works, but the wires are elsewhere in the headlight housing. There are no direct wires to the turn signal bulb.

There is a wiring harness entering the bulb holder assembly. You can find wiring diagrams here (navigate to the E60) : WDS BMW Wiring Diagram System - X5 E70
