2004 545i US

Recently Purchased. Great car. Only thing I noticed is that the trunk release opens much MUCH faster than my previous 545i. It seems its hitting way too hard at the top-end causing me to always use my hand to dampen the impact.

Searched and couldn't find anything about it but I remember reading something similar on the forums earlier.

Any Solutions?

You can adjust it by changing the attaching points of the springs that bounce the trunk up.

Remove the left/right side covers in trunk and you'll see the springs. There are two plastic "screws" on both sides holding the cover in place. Turn the screw 90? and pull it out. Then you can lift the cover panel off.

Maybe the easiest way is to remove the rear light so that you can access the spring straight from behind with some kind of a hook and pull it with force.

Get a trunk finisher... it'll add weight to the rear and make it look better.

Oh that is true!
A week and half ago when I had to remove my trunk finisher for a repaint I noticed the trunk lid lifted much much quicker without it (the finisher).
