I am unable to open my trunk using the remote open in the key. I've tried various things like keeping the car unlocked, unlocking from inside, and then trying to open the trunk but I can't seem too.

I can only open the trunk using the key, or using the button inside the car (near the footwell).

What am I doing wrong? Something I need to reset?

Thanks for your help guys and gals!

I assume you've tried holding the button long enough. A simple press will not do it, you need to hold down the button for a one thousand one count to get it open.

Note: If you hold the button down for 2+ seconds, the panic alarm will sound. It does take some learning to know how long to push the button. I still don't get it on the first try everytime.

Turn the key in the trunk to the left all the way untill it opens. The lock has two positions, key straight up and down and key horizontal. (one for valet)

You not only have to hold the button down for approx 1-2 seconds, you also have to then release your finger from the button. Then the trunk will pop open.

I did try holding the button for various intervals and releasing. Of course a couple times I held it down too long and the alarm went off.

I might have to play around with it some more. I don't want to have to take it to the dealer for just this!

Unfortunately, sounds like you do have some problem. If the trunk were manually locked w/ the key, then the button inside would not work either, so I don't think it is an issue with the lock turned to the wrong position. Sounds like an issue with the car or key.
