Ok guys.... I bought a used 2004 530i with the sports package. The back seats do NOT fold down. My question is (and the SA told me that mine is "normal"): On the underside of the rear deck, there is no carpet. I have skinned my hand a couple of times putting golf clubs in the trunk and, at the time, thought to myself that there really should be a carpet panel up there. Does anyone else have a similar car that can tell me whether or not there is supposed to be a carpet panel installed up there?

Thanks for the info!!!

My '07 530 is the same way. The lack of finishing paint in this area has been debated before (with no conclusion). The cars are 100% rust proofed (dipped) and it would require an extra pass of the paint robot arm (= additional cost and time) to apply paint, so they don't. Just my $0.02.

Okay...you're ignorant! That is what you said! My 2005 545i has the same affliction, so it's not just your car...watch the knuckles!

Yep, ignorant... Well, at least I'm not missing any other parts on the car. I am missing the plastic "kick-panel" part that runs across the front of the passenger seat. It is actually a trim piece that covers the ugly wires and junk that is mounted right there under the front of the seat. I thought that since I was missing that piece, I might be missing the carpet from under the rear deck as well. I wonder if anyone makes some kind of aftermarket carpet piece that could be attached up there some way. Some places on that panel are SHARP!!!

I am trying to get everything taken care of before the warranty runs out on the car, so I REALLY appreciate all the help and advice from you guys!!!

Thanks!!

It's normal. Solution: use golf gloves on both hands and put them on prior to putting the clubs in and remove them after you take out the clubs when you get home. Or, just tip the caddy an extra $5. Just what you needed, right? Another smartass response.
