Default Transmissoion failsafe program!! ZF6HP19

Having some issues with my tranny "zf6hp19 Auto box, seems to go into limp mode after apply a bit of throttle from 3-4 and will transmission failsafe mode.

Some of the errors I'm getting.
4F83
4F8D
4F53 TCC opened in error
P0741 TCCP stuck off
4F8F
4F92

4F80
4F86

P0700
P3227
P1449

Just needs to be restarted and will operate normally..
As long as I nurse the shift point to about 2K, don't have any issues, but once I put on the throttle it shifts funny from 3-4 great.

Checked fluid level and all seems to be fine, didn't smell bad but was kinda dirty.
Changed out 5qts.

Have been told the sleeve needs to be replaced, because of the small leak.
But can't find any fluid drips or deposits.
Can a sleeve leak cause it loose pressure enough to make it error out??

Was also thinking about the mechatronics top gasket?
Any input??

The errors are keeping me from getting my emissions done to get my plates.
Pretty soon I'm going to have to sell it as is.

I did find that bmw will sell my a tranny for $2800 reman tranny.

Assuming you did the proper ZF tranny fluid change, what you need to have done now is clear out the transmission adaptive memory (not the "25 sec hold down"). Go to any reputable euro indy shop and have them clear it out for you. A shop in my town charged me $20.

I recently had to change out my fluid because my pan drain plugged was leaking. Immediately after the change I started to get some very very hard shifting from 2 to 3 and 3 to 2, regardless whether I was in Drive, DS, or M modes. It always happened. So I had the shop clear the transmission adaptive memory and all is AWESOME! No slam and no delay when putting into reverse. Hope this helps Good luck

I did reset the adaptive setting in inpa, but its' still there!!
Hopefully, I get it sorted out.

Not sure what to do, get a ebay tranny for $1500 and $700 R&R, buy Aamco rebuild one for $2909 or buy bmw remaned and install myelf or by $700 R&R??

Was your mechatronics pulled out? If so then there may be a problem with the gasket not seated properly.

I would go ahead and replace the mechatronics sleeve since there is a "small leak." It may not be a big deal right now but eventually you'll end up low on tranny fluid and you will have problems down the road. So replace it.

The solenoids can be replaced so I'd look into that before getting a rebuilt tranny or rebuilding one.

sounds like your trans goes into failsafe mode due to detecting slippage. either your clutch discs are worn, low pressure, or ??

They aren't that simple. They can leak / not seal correctly, even if electrically everything is fine

On mine I could blow air through some of the ones that are supposed to be closed by default.. the new ones were as tight as could be

Sorry to revive such an old thread, but I'm curious NCSUgrad if you were getting any error codes along with the shifting problems before you replaced the solenoids?
