DIY people - has anyone used any other Transmission oil without any issues in there E60 Auto apart from BMW oil (which basically is Shell M-1375.4). If yes, can you please contribute the brand and type of oil.

So far I have the following;
ZF Lifeguard 6
Pentosin ATF1

Is Mobil LT71141 old and obsolete and new one is called Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF? (see http://www.eclubes.com.au/products/v...l-atf-lt-71141)

Hi

Have just purchased 20 Litre of Mobil LT71141 ( with prod. date 05-2012 ) so I can't imagne that it is "obsolete" , look at E-bay and you will see it can still be purchased with out any problems from several suppliers/sellers.

Kind Regards
BenAnd

There you go, Updated comparison list

BMW Original - Shell M-1375.4
ZF Lifeguard 6
Pentosin ATF1 (Manufacturer - CRP Industries)
Mobil ATF LT 71141
MotorCraft Mercon SP ATF
AMSOIL Synthetic Fuel Efficient
Redline - Synthetic ATF
Castrol Import Multi-Vehicle

So far Redline looks the best. Feel free to add your experience.

shops use redline for higher torque applications like 535, 550 etc... for little 2.5 or 3.0 I would run the others

If you talk to ZF there is no substitute. For a couple hundred bucks why take a chance.

Considering you spoke to ZF, did you ask them if they make the oil or they re-brand it?
