When my car is cold, i back out of my garage and the car surges back real quick. only for a foot or two.. almost like the rpms went up real quick. This only happens when the car is cold.(sits over night.. I've driven the car to the store and then tried it in the parking lot. won't do it) Any ideas?

hmmmm cold start issue ... your post doesn't provide a lot of detail. How many miles on your 530? Services up to date? May be time for an emissions and related items inspection/service? When were plugs replaced? Are you using a quality brand premium gasoline? Any warning lights or alerts in iDrive showing up when this happens?

You may want to be cautious about backing until engine settles in after a cold start. Let it idle for 30 seconds or so ... with your garage door OPEN!

As a general precaution, you might think about resetting the transmission!

Not a dumb question at all....you can reset it, do a search here on the forum for "25 second transmission reset", it's easy and effective too!

There is nothing wrong with your car, it is on choke for cold starts where the RPM's are higher so you will have a surge when in drive!! its common here as we are always in the cold
