Hi,
Has anyone ever tried Wolfshead automatic transmission fluid? I'm about to change my tranny fluid since the transmission pan is leaking and a my friend who is a former BMW mechanic suggested using Wolfshead ATF and it looks like it meets the specs of Shell M-1375.4 that our cars need.
Here's a link to the spec sheet:
http://www.wolfshead.com/specsheets/...lsynthetic.pdf
I'm debating if I should try it, since BMW is charging $33 a liter for ATF fluid and they said I need 9.5 liters for my 545i.
Does the 545i really take 9.5 liters??? How much have you guys needed when doing a tranny flush?

I don't think I'd try to save less than $100 by using a "could-be-compatible" transmission fluid. BMW Automatics are way to frail / finicky to risk it.

I do have the sheets some where, otherwise I will have to look them up. Closes comparison I can get to relate is Chevy Silverado & GMC Sierra thats how close the fluids are.. If you need sheets pm me and I will send you them when I am at work
Yes that site is where I did hours of reading.. The Shop I used uses the red line oil which has higher torque and friction capacity

Seems like every couple of months I see a thread about either transmission fluid or engine oil compatibility. Pentosin and ZF is around $ 16 per liter which is not that bad considering you don't have to replace it again until at least another 30K miles or if you're one of those drain and refill several times to remove all fluid. Usually it takes around 6 to 7 liters which comes out to be around $ 110 instead of the $ 40-50 for the Mercon. How much are you really saving here???
