Question

See my earlier post of getting a "Transmission Fault... Drive Moderately".
http://forums.e60.net/index.php?s=&sho...st&p=391104

I didn't want to hijack Greg530 thread, therefore I started a new one.

Just got a call from the SA. They are replacing the Transmission Heat Exchanger. Don't know the reason why it broke. They are sending it to BMW for further analysis. The SA mentioned that they weren't sure if there was any damage to the transmission itself, and won't know till they put a new heat exchanger on and see if there are any additional error codes.

I am surprised they cannot inspect the transmission to check for damage rather than wait for error codes. Is this how it is done??

Default

Just got my car back. Work order states:

1. Removing and Installing heat exchanger for automatic transmission.
2. Replaced oil cooler line.
3. Replaced oil pipe for oil cooler
4. O-Ring
5. Oil

Trans oil leaked at cooler connection.

Thankfully there was no transmission damage - no fault codes or metallic particles in the oil.

Now I have to go after BMW Assist because the tow truck driver damaged the bumper - used a screw driver to pop the tow hitch cover open
