I got into my car the other day (Sunday), pushed Start and nothing happened but the dashboard lit up
with Transmission error ('car on lift up jack icon) and fuel pump error...

I tried many times, at times the motor would turn a bit but not start up.

Took it to the BMW shop and they checked and told me the tranmission and fuel pump are fine. False
errors.

They also found that my power is 10.5 (whatever that is) and that it might be the reason the car isn't starting up
and showing error messages. Something about that the normal should be 13.x....?

I asked them if I should change a new battery but they thought it wasn't necessary so my questions are:

1. Would a low battery cause these errors and the car to go berzerk (dead)?

2. How often should the battery be changed? My car is a 2007 May delivery 520d LCI.

Thanks for any replies but having a dead car in the garage is really a bummer.... :getlost: I'm scared to drive
it thinking it might strand me somewhere some time.

My 530 is same age as your car. I just had battery checked and it was getting weak so replaced it. I was not getting errors as serious as yours, but a couple of times recently iDrive told me to re-set my clock, which I figured was a low battery issue.

Yeah, might be a weak battery....

I'm wondering if 10.7 is weak for a battery....?

What's the usual level for most batteries being used? (Not a brand new battery in the car)

Sounds like a new Batt is needed.
They will try and sell you a trickle charger, but from what many are saying , 2-3.5 years is all you can expect for a E6x Batt.

If you drive only short trips and not frequently a trickle charger may be needed.
