After I received my SW update for the SMG recall, not 500 miles later, my car threw up a Transmission Failsafe message, and a Service Engine Soon light, Increased emissions.. After a rest, the Transmission Failsafe Warning dissappeared, and I pulled the coded and it was P1887, TCC Release Switch Circuit. It's a GM code, is that because the SMG is a GM tranny?
Here's the epilogue of my last experience with Service Engine Soon light:

A mere 600 miles out of warranty should not prevent BMW from covering what may be a major component failure. Tire wear alone can account for a several hundred miles error on the odometer.
