My only 3 reqs when buying a car were AWD, manual trans, and sunroof

I was just wondering how many people chose a BMW over the competition becasue of the transmission choices?

I needed a sedan that the whole family can fit in but wanted to be sporty too and considered the following:
- 750i A little out of my price range
- STS-V wasn't out yet and costly
- CTS-V a tad smaller in the back seat
- A6/A8 was told to stay away from Audi
- GTO only a 2 door

I think I made the right choice!

If it wasnt for the manual tranny I would've gotten the CLS 500...but good thing I got the E60 cause I do not regret not getting the CLS

I'll drive a manual transmission for as long as BMW will let me. There is NO other choice.

Manual transmission a big must[u]!

I've had manuals for years. The SMG just sweetened the decision.

Never driven an SMG, but got a question (s)

Can you stall it?
Do you have to go up and down through the gears or does it automatically downshift whenyou slow?
Is the "auto" a setting or just not shifting with the paddle and it shifts when it wants to?
