You obviously know more about these cars than I do. I am not familiar with the various transmission codes, and did not realize that this thread is about an automatic transmission until the post about "slipping". No need to get testy though...

When are you changing the trans and differential fluid?

I have almost 50,000 miles on my 08 535XIT and would think it is time however BMW says it is lifetime?

Whose 'lifetime'? Owner's lifetime? Cars lifetime? Transmission's lifetime?

Let's say if the transmission dies at 75K miles, according to BMW definition, transmission fluid served it's 'lifetime'?

Please, for the sake of your car, change the transmission oil at 50-60K's regardless of what however says. If you don't listen to this advise, you will be sorry no matter what car you have.

I also use Pentosin ATF +1 for this type of tranny. Look in the DIY section.

Yep that's correct. You can also use Jaguar C2C8432 which is the same as well.

To all others , thanks for serious "inputs" :-)

Hi BenAnd,

It was almost 2 years since you used Mobil LT71141 in your tranny. Would like to know how the transmission is doing, are there any issues with the ATF? I am asking because last week I filled my ZF 6HP26 (X5, E53) with LT71141. I am not sure that it is suitable. Feedback from you will be very helpful and will give me peace of mind!
Thank you very much!
