Thinking about getting the Tranny and Rear Diff Oil changed on my 2004 530d Auto
The car's done 52000 miles
Been quoted ?416 for the lot inc Oil, parts and labour.

Is this a fair price? The car has a 1 year BMW AUC Warranty with 10 months warranty left so want to use a main dealer just in case a prob arises later on.

Any views on if this is worth it or not?

Cheers

Rav

I am doing my manual Trans and differential at 75k (5 years old). Both are supposed to be lifetime, but I am a maintenance freak and plan on keeping the car for another 75k.

The oil that BMW uses is very expensive. My trans service is $290, and my rear diff service is $275 (approx 375 pounds). So, you are probably in the same ball park as the auto service may be more.

I figured I could find an independent guy to do it, but I am having my vehicle check done and once again trying to have them fix the door seals and sunroof noise...hopefully with a little BMW assistance since it still has not been right.

Dealer was able to fix my door seals, they replace the seals and install a clear tape around the opening where the door seals make contact with the body. Worked very well. Nice and quiet now.

My dealer didn't want to change my auto trans fluid, I asked. I have found an independent shop that will do it but my trans is covered by the CPO warranty until 100k (at 48k now), so I'm not sure if I want to do it.
