2004 545i for $28,994....30k miles

2006 525i
Bought in June for $27,500 not including BMW extended warranty and maintenance (payments for like 4 months)...has 42k miles

Im wondering if they will do a decently even trade (maybe my monthy will go up a little) being that it is a 2006 for a 2004. This is the first one I have even seen as far as 04s go because BMW usually sells 05 and up.

Any advice as far as purchasing? I really want to upgrade to a v8. The 525i is just too slow for me as I bought it when gas was 4.50. I really wanna do an ecu upgrade, SB and a few other things. I have never had a car over 240 hp in my life. I really want something with some balls.

I also figure I dont have to get extended maintenance and warranty until Im almost at 50k....or maybe it can be brought over to this car?

ANy feedback is appreciated. This car is in Westchester NY. CPO from Pace BMW.

Two things I would consider.. #1 even though you are ~20K miles away from factory warranty expiration as far as mileage goes-- your time expiration is almost nigh. #2 would be that fuel prices probably won't be this low for much longer. Otherwise I would go for it as I have a 525i as well and would personally prefer the V8 with that little extra kick.

You sound exactly like me. I bought my 525 in May when gas was the price it was. I didn't want a V8 at the time. Now I'm wishing I had a 545, this car seems like it lacks power sometimes, I love the car other than that. Decisions.

get the sb and you'll get your kick with your 525 but your hp will be lacking for pick up at 60+ but hey why do you need to go faster or do you just wanna make us 530's look weak when you roll up with a 545? lol j/k think about it man its worth being able to have that power when you need it .. it is niceee but you just gotta be ready to fill up more often lol

well on your 525i you are 8k miles away from no more warranty and the 545i might not have any warranty left. personally i would get the 545i but make sure the 545i has had no major problems. have the dealer run the vin number for you.

Thanks guys. I am going to look at two 545is today. One is an 2004 TGP for 28,994 with 29,600 miles and one is a 2005 TSM with 39,741k miles for 27.995. I really only drive the car for like 300 miles a week...on the weekends and I just need something faster. If my monthly payments are significantly different I am just going to keep the 525...go strictly for looks. No point in doing anything but an SB. Ill let you guys know how it turns out.

like i said milage might not mean much. have a dealer run those vin vumbers and get the vehicle history. if they are ok then i say pull the trigger, you know you want that V8 with 325hp and 330 trq

Yeh I mean I am getting extended warranty and maintenance anyway. I have it on my 525i already. I seriously want that power. Ive never had a car with that much power sadly. I cant even imagine how fast an M5 is. . Im hoping it works out.

Why do you want to increase your carbon footprint so much? Power is so over-rated. You might do well in joining the BMW club and invest some money on their "driving schools." You'd be amazed how many "8 cylindered" drivers I have left crying behind my car, eating my dust. There are some minor mods you can do to gain an extra 30~40 horses without increasing your gas consumption all that much.

If you want bragging rights with words, then the 545 is the way to go. Actions speak louder than words, though. Believe me, you can take on the Vettes and Porsches of the world with your 525. You'll be good to go until you hit 145. Many people have the tools to get to that speed, but don't have the training and/or balls to get there, so chances are you can spank a Vette or Porsche with a 525. I am not sure where the limiter is with a 545, but I am ready to bet that BMW has limited it to about 155. All that gas and more expensive parts for an extra 10 MPH? I'd stay with the newer car and invest in a chip.

My $ 0.02
