I have same dilemma, but I think I will go for it so I don't have to stare at the warning for 5 months on my dash. Plus I get the added safety, obviously.

I've got to buy snows for my 5'er...
Adding TPMS is an incremental $200!!
You think it's worth it? I'm tempted to pass
Sheesh, $200

? If you're mounting your winter shoes on your original wheels you won't need new TPM's. ? If you are, BTW, $200 is a pretty low quote for them - does that also include the 4 "valves"? The price I was quoted for mine was $290 w/shipping.
Doc -- I don't think I want to stare at that warning light for 5 mos either...Probably going to have to just spring for the extra 2 bills

Nope, these will be mounted on dedicated snow wheels...

BTW, were you quoted $200 for the TPMs from a local BMW Dealer? Gary gave me a price of $290 [incl $12 s&h]. My local dealer quoted me almost $400!

80's this week there fella
Still hoping to get the boat out a couple times before it gets too cold. Best be off the lake by mid october though...
The application I am considering is at TireRack...TPMS is an additional $200.

Are you just buying tires and TPMS from tirerack or a complete setup? It sounds like a full deal.
1). Complete Tirerack application - delivered mounted and balanced with TPMS and alloy wheels from them.
2). Dealer Exclusive Application: OEM 17" wheels, winter rubber and TPMS (probably more expensive than tirerack)
3). Finding used oem wheels somewhere and mounting them on new Dunlop or Blizzaks with tpms from bmw.

I'm still exploring and considering a number of scenarios:

You can find some good values here from folks selling their OEM 18's..especially the 124's. Buying OEM rims from your dealer will cost you twice as much...don't do it! PM member HIPPY or check out his ad below. He has brand new 124's with new Dunlops and TPMS. I know you don't need the tires, but it will still be cheaper than going through dealer without tires.
