Are TPMS sensors interchangeable between aftermarket and oem wheels or do you need ones specific for the wheel? Tks

Yeah the OEM TPMS will fit on aftermarket wheels, you'll just need to recalibrate them on your IDrive after installation.

Just wanted to bring this post back and get clarification. So if I went out and got new rims and tires. I tell the shop to remove the sensors from my oem rims and put them in the new rims? Then I use idrive to recalibrate and I'm good to go?

What if the shop tells me he can't do that and wants to sell me new sensors? Do they have to be specific to BMW?

Thanks for the reply guys. I've been wondering the same thing myself and even started a thread a few weeks ago on the topic. So I can just yank the TPM's from my 124's and slap them in my aftermarket wheels?

I just did this over the weekend. I got new Aftermarket wheels and xferred my OEM tpms from my stock wheels. Note that I had to get Marcato tpms adapters so that I could reuse my OEM tpms on the new wheels.

Your new wheels may already have a pre-drilled hole (aside from the valve stem) where the tpms can be mounted or if not, a hole may have to be drilled. In any event, the tpms adapter(Marcato piece) is what I went with. There was no 'recalibration' Needed.

What rims did you get? Most single piece wheels will accept the OEM TPMS sensor. Most newer multi-piece wheels either come drilled for it, or have an optional TPMS adapter

I didn't get any rims yet. I want to know what to expect before I purchase, that's all. Mainly wanted to know if I have to shell extra cash for sensors and whatnot.

Check with Sam from Sleek Motoring - he did the work for me and can speak to the whole process.
