TPM error after change over to winter wheels?
Hi all,
I picked up an 08 535Xi last fall, including a set of aftermarket wheels with winter tires. This is my first car with TPMS, so please excuse me if I sound stupid. There were no problems or messages with the stock wheels, but there is a TPM system error ever since I put on the winter wheels. Do I have to “register” the winter wheels with the car somehow? Is there an easy way to test the wheels for the presence of TPMS? Is there a way to deactivate the TPM system for the winter?
Thx folks.

Canadian 2008s used TPMS with pressure senders - a reare one-year accidental configuration. If you don't have TPMS senders on the winter wheels you'll get the error. That, or there's a dead battery on one. Take it to a tire shop to have the wheels scanned for senders.
