I have a back up copy of my NAV 2004-2 Europe DVD on my computer in case something ever happens to my original and as I started looking at the contents of the disc.

There was a folder for TMC. I cannot get TMC and my only guess is that I have US software installed on my car.

Question is, if I have the Euro software installed, can I use TMC?

In Germany on German spec cars the TMC works on both, nav pro AND nav bus.

It's a "Traffic Message Channel".
Radio stations over here send informations on traffic jams and other traffic related warnings with their radio signal. This dataset can be received by cars with TMC and you have a list with all available infos. It tells you where there is a problem on the roads, how far it is from your position and lots more.
These infos are also beeing read by the nav system, what automatically gives you a warning when a problem is on your route, and asks you if you want to drive around the problem or if you want to stay on the current route.

hey, Ice... wrt TMC/BusNav in Deutschland, is it always on and non-controllable (ie. it re-routes you and you have no choice) or does it allow you to accept/not accept the change (like i think proNav does)?

thanks

I really can't remember how...
I just remember that when I had a loaner once with bus nav, that I had TMC. I am pretty sure it was just like the nav pro, the warning came up and I had to accept or not... All I really remember for sure is, that it had TMC, since I was surprised about that!
