Just want to see what everyones thoughts are these tires. Yokohama AVID ENVigor (W) Ultra high perf. All-Season. The UTQG 560 A A which is one of the higest out there and within the Yokohama family. They say this is a 45,000 mile tire but with a staggard setup I don't think I would get close to this but hoping to get more than I have been on my Michelin Pilot Sports AS Plus's. Close to $100.00 difference in each tire. I know if you compare handling and tracking and and and the Michelin kills it, but with a $400.00 price differnce it's got me thinking...

Tread wear ratings should only be used as a guide - real world tire life may be very different. And, in order to achieve those high numbers tire manufacturers usually engineer these tires with very hard rubber compounds that don't offer the kind of handling or grip you may want. Everything is a trade of.

I recommend you study the objective tire tests and subjective consumer ratings at tirerack for more detail. Spend your money wisely - your tires are the link between you and the road - $100 can disappear really fast the first time you have to make an evasive maneuver or short stop on a slippery road!

Tread wear ratings are ONLY relative to other products from the same manufacturer.

There is NO standard test, they convey NO information at all to enable you to differentiate between wear rates or tyres from other manufacturers.

 

Yes, I am aware of the UTQG but maybe they should call it a MTQG.... The Michelin's say 500 UTQG and the both are classified as a 45000 mile tire. So in that respect they are similar. I was curious to see if anyone out here have ran Yokohama's and if they were ok with them. The only difference I could see between the two is the Michelin's are Z rated and the Yokos' are W rated for speed. I prefer the Michelins myself but was just checking to see what else might be similar. I'll take another look using your info and see what the price does. Thanks!
