My Ride: 2004 545i 6 spd Sports Package | NAV | PDC | Logic 7 | BT retrofit | SW V13.3
I just spoke to Geo, one of the shop foremen at BOB SMITH BMW in Calabassas, CA. I discussed the following:
1. CIP Version They are still installing V16.0. No news yet on a later release although with week 9 cars due in the showroom in a month there is much hope for CIP16.2
2. Roaring Runflats I asked what I should expect regarding new tires. He has heard that Dunlop have reworked the thread pattern to fix the premature wear and resulting noise. More paper work is now required to get them replaced which is a good thing. It indicates that BMW might recall and change the bad batch voluntarily. I will take my chances and get a new set of Dunlops. Until the roar started they were great tires especially in hot weather.
3. Door rattles and Seals I can confirm Kscarroll's comment that BMW is not offering CarboFlo as a fix for rattles any longer. The March Roundtable DVD provides no solution, but mentions that new seals have been designed and are currently being tested by BMW. They are expected shortly, whenever that is.

I keep hearing that Dunlop made some kind of change to the tire design. I'm glad to see one more bit of evidence that it is, in fact, true.
If Dunlop made changes, I'm way more optimistic that I won't have the same roaring problem arise in 7000 miles...
Thanks Hormazd for the info!

[/quote]16.0 has no changes from the last update? If I have 13.x, and my dealer wants to install 16.0, will there be any changes from my current version? For some reason, my dealer is always MONTHS behind everyone else in getting the latest software releases. As a matter of fact, I have been told several times that certain versions did NOT exist by my service advisor, after I had read posts here where members had that newer version ALREADY installed!! I am currently experiencing about 3 software related problems, and was hoping the 16.x update would fix.....but based on Iceman's post...maybe not??
