i am getting the 530xi and want different rims. I know I need the 43mm offet. My question is can I buy any rim - for example a 17x8 with 5x120mm bolt pattern with a 40mm offet - because this is the size for some 3 series and some X5's. So can I use rims from thses cars?

That's probably near enough to be ok... The rims will stick out 3mm more each side...

Why go for 40mm offset when you need 43mm offset.

Try to go for original offset wheels, they are the best option for driving plaesur and safty.

Check with your dealer if they have any 18 inch options.
