So its very cold here in NYC , started the car and the TPM alert went off.
I checked the tires by eye and they all looked the same.
I reset the system and now all the tires show as green.
What happened, yes the cold resulted in lower pressure but I thought you need a 25% change to trigger the alert?

I do not recommend "eye-balling" your tire pressures.
You won't be able to tell using that method unless one or more are drastically low. Did you at least go in the iDrive prior to resetting them to see which tire(s) was (were) low?
As of now, you have just made your current pressures the baseline for future monitoring of pressures. It didn't magically give your tires more air. Air always leaks, even if it's very slow.....they were probably already low prior to the cold weather for the temps now to push them over the edge.
GO RE-MEASURE with a real tire pressure gauge!

The car is a month old, maybe they delivered it low?
I will check them in few days when it warms up not driving very far until then.
I did not think that it add air, just that it was a false alarm.

Tires will leak a bit, not matter what. The TPM's are pretty sensitive and can pick up this change. I get a TPM warning message every 5-6 months. Just stop by your local gas station or tire shop to have them check and top off the air..and then reset your TPM's

I have a nice 12 volt 120 volt Black and Decker Pump.
PS In NYC you check your own tires and pay for air.

Those 12v pumps are ok for bicycle tires, inflatable toys, and an emergency when away from a 120v outlet. But you'll grow old waiting for them to pump tires that require more than 35psi.
I suggest you shop for a small 120v compressor with at least a 2 gal reserve tank. They come in very handy and are small enough to transport in your trunk if necessary. Besides being able to quickly check and adjust tire pressures monthly ... with basic accessories you can use it to clear leaves, debris, and dust from under hood and nooks and crannys, etc etc. The small one I have will power up a small ratchet and cut-off tool but isn't intended for heavy work like a 1/2" impact wrench. And I bought it at Sears on sale for less than $100. Here's one you could add to your holiday shopping list! http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...5312000P?mv=rr
A good tire pressure gauge is a necessity too! (I have an accu-gage - reliable and sturdy - clear numbers).

IMO 25psi is way to low to run on even for a short period of time. I also have a Black and Decker 120 air pump and have no trouble getting 44psi in a short time. Good luck
cheers
