I really think the key think is to be sure you use the same gauge every time. Even if the gauge is not absolutely accurate, it's more important that all tires are filled using the same gauge.

the simple "stick" gauges are excellent and can be bought for $1. you can put them in your pocket like a pen,and they are very accurate. If you are influential, some tire shops etc. will give you one for free.
Sorry for the "cheap" reply but that's just me.

LOL I have a few you can have, I hate those things. The cheap ones I have lose their tolerance after 6 months or so...

This is the best gauge I have ever bought. For somthing that is so routine and important it was worth $40 to me and with the hands free addaptor I can set the pressure and it fills it to the correct amount.
This gauge will fill two tires at once and will also balance them. It has a great effect on how your traction control and ABS functions. It illuminates soon as it you place the high quality quick chuck on your valve stem.
It is very accurate and comes with a life time warranty even if you drop it. I bought mine at the tire rack and though away for of the cheap ones that I bought over the years that were either inaccurate or fell apart.

I've used an accu-gage analogue for years; it's got a large - rubber cased - dial, easy to read, and pressure release to make adjustments easy. Mine also has an 18" hose to make it easy to hold the gage away from the wheel.
