PS2. Far better than either Dunflops or Bridgerocks, which ride way too rough. Once you settle on a tire, you can replace the rears and fronts separately as needed. I'd guess for PS2's, the rear tires will last about 20-25K and the front tires about 30-35K miles. They are expensive, but they are worth it. Great handling, great ride, best quality.

PS2s are the way to go. If your a member of COSTCO, that's the cheapest place you will find Michellins.

Does Costco have the equipment to dismount the OEM RFTs? I am a little worry about them damaging my rims since they typically do not install RFTs.

I've got the second set of Michelin A/S PS-2s on my 325 and got over 35K miles on the first set. Much quieter than the original Continentals, and traction is great. I am in Houston, so no snow, but when it rains, it pours and these things really shed water. As soon as the new E60 needs a set of tires, I am buying them for this one.

Hmmm... replacing tyres after 13,000 miles? I really hope I get more wear out of mine. I've done over 10,000 miles - I'd better look!

My OEM Dunlops lasted 18,500 miles..... but I replaced them late. The cords were showing, and I spun off the highway during a rainstorm before replacing them.

Runflats are good for the first 10,000 miles. After that, they begin to develop noise problems. By 15,000 miles the noise is unbearable... at least, if you have another car to compare it to.
I have put 10,000 miles on my Michelin PS2 tires, and the tread still looks fantastic. I don't know how many miles I will ultimately get out of them, but it will definitly be better than the runflats.
I seriously can't stress enough how much better this car is with these Michelins. My 325i is on OEM runflats still, but they are now so noisy I can't take it anymore. 15,000 miles. I'm due for a service soon on that car, so I am going to ask about buying a spare tire and getting non-RFT tires. Hopefully I can do this.

Just checked the tread on the rears - about 4mm (maybe 3) to the TWI so about 5-6mm or just between a fifth and a quarter of an inch of tread left.
I'm obviously doing something wrong!

Hello fellow Virginian! I'm in Arlington...
I would opt for non-Mich myself, but that's me. A local shop weaned me from them when I drove my last car. Said the compounds they use are too hard to really be as sporting as the tires could be. While this kind of stiffness can give you crisp turn-in, it rarely does much for overall grip. Crisp turn-in can be deceiving, and a lot of people equate this with good handling. I like Toyo tires, the Proxes T1-S was vastly superior to the Pilot Sport model (the most sporting version) that I had on my old car. Even though turn-in was less sharp, it was much grippier and behaved like a champ during hard cornering or emergency avoidance.
I personally really like my Dunlop OEM RFTs, I have 14700 miles on my car and the tread is deeeeeep. They're louder for sure than when they were new, but I could get another 14700 out of them easily. I try to keep them inflated properly though. That's pretty key for any tire.
If I were you and were considering a non-OEM tire, I would look no further than the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3. It's right in the top 2 for dry handling, and nothing can touch it in the wet. Great price and longevity too.
Car and Driver did an exhaustive test of 11 tires that they printed in the December of 2005 issue. They drove 3 of Tire Rack's E90 325i test cars around the test track at the Tire Rack compound. The results are very illuminating.

EDIT - Tire Rack has the set for the 545i on sale (and in stock) currently...
$172.00 per tire for the fronts
$197.00 per tire for the rears
Shipping costs are generally pretty trivial and they show up in about 2 days in case you've never bought from them before.
