Just tried this, and first impressions after a short drive are that the squeaks are gone. Will report back later after a longer drive. Looks like the dawn tip works!

Most automatic car washes (yes, sometimes in the snowy winter months) add wax to the mix even if you specify none. I venture this can add to skeaking seals. This was a problem on the E39 I used to have.

To keep doors noise free-
Do not put anything on the door seals!
No silicone, wd-40, no gummifledge, etc.
Use a wet terry cloth towel to rub them clean (both inner and door) every
couple weeks, and they will stay noise free.
It works-

I took this up with my dealer after the creaks got the better of me one day, and he said that BMW UK's latest advice is to, wait for it, use talcum powder on the seals to stop the creaking....
I haven't done that yet but the dealer is willing to charge me to do it as a stop-gap before fitting new seals (which are the same design still).
BMW line in cosmetics is soon to be a feature of your local dealer, no doubt

Because the seals are dirty. Clean them(both inner/outer) with wet cotton terry cloth, firmly.
They will be silent.

I wipe the door jams & seals with a damp microfibre cloth every week. I had no creaks until a few weeks ago, when I drove 600km's to the coast where the humidity IeveIs are very high compared to where I live. When I got there, the car creaked like the doors in a horror movie, or as someone else put it "an old boat".
I could not believe how bad it was!
Then when I drove home 5 days later all the creaks were gone!
Based on this experience, the local climate may be a big factor explaining why some people have & others have not had the door seal problem.
It seems the dryer the climate, the better. Which probably explains why the wax causes problems.
