I wanted to get some feedback to see if anyone has removed tint from an E60 on their own.

I have my back 3 windows tinted (previous owner) and I was planning on removing it myself using the steamer method:

My concern is the rear window because of the defroster sensors and the antenna panel on the back window.

I'm afraid the condensation from the steam will affect the antenna panel or I might accidentally scrap off the defroster sensors. From the DIY video it looks simple enough so I thought about saving some $$$ and doing it on my own.

Has anyone ever done this before? thoughts?

Thanks,

Francis

Wow....he makes it seem easy. In reality it is pretty easy. It is best to use the steam method and go REALLY slow. Use 100% amonia to get off any left behind adhesive. You can also use goo gone, or any adhesive remover.

I used a razor blade and took out the corners, and then slowly pulled on the tint, until it was removed form the window, any extra glue I used the razor blade or goo gone and wiped it off.
but i did f up my rear window, and some of the defrost sensors were scrapped when i pulled out my tint. so be very carefull on back window. good luck

it's best to pay the pro to do it, especially the rear. Don't want to fuk up those defroster. I don't know how much they charge for removing the rear window but it cost around $ 25 to remove the tint from the front driver and passenger windows, at least in my area. Got a ticket for tinted window, turned out it's cheaper if I get the damn tint remove, pay the fix it fees then re-tint it.

if you never did it before, dont try in on a BMW, the side windows are simple, but if you mess up the back, either you'll hafta live with it, or pony up for a new window. Let the pros do it, theyve done it 100's of times on all cars. and they can do it fast. even if I could do it myself for free, it would take me hours. I'd eaisly pay someone $25 to do it in minutes.

why do you want to remove the tint? If you do, bring it to a pro...

haha it wasn't that bad i would just scrap off the corner of the window and slowly pull off the tint. when i did the back i think they put way too much glue and some of the defrost sensors messed up. razor blade or scrapper get the adhesive off quick. but honestly i regret doing it, cause my back window looks like crap.
