After reading this forum for about a week or so, I was conceptually sold on the 545i SMG.

Today I had a fairly disappointing visit to my local dealer in NJ. They do not have nor expect any 545i with SMG for me to test drive. The didn?t have even have a 3 or 6 series with SMG. On top of it, they claim that the timing will force me into a 550i even though I don?t feel it?s necessary to have the extra power/cost. They also were not very knowledgeable or helpful about ED.

My lease expires at the end of May and was hoping for a European Delivery at the beginning of May for early June delivery.

On a positive note, I drove the auto version and immediately fell in love with the ride. I'm a big Audi fan, but the handling on the 545 is at another level. I was apprehensive about the active steering but turned out to be one of the best features. Power and confidence was at a highest level. Extremely impressed!!

Can someone recommend a knowledgeable dealer/salesperson in the NJ Bergen County area? Is the timing for availability of the 545 vs. 550 consistent with what you have heard? Any other info or tips regarding ED would also be appreciated.

You should be fine... the 550 isnt going to be out any time soon... nto till sept so if you order now you should definetly be able to do ED on a 545 in may. Find another dealer and ask.

Did they have some information on cost or is that just an assumption that the 550 is going to cost more?

I guess hes assuming that its going to cost more cause theres not going to be any discounts off it vs the 545.

I would think that's a fair assumption, given that it will be a new model year, a more powerful engine, and the dollar's continued weakness vs. the euro.
