I have a 2006 E61 520D (Yes i know the engive is small, but it Norway even this one costs a little over 100k now from the store....)

When I start up my car at first the idle is a little bit unsteady, when it finds a rev after about 30 sek and stay there. But at the same time its a ticking sound, this sound gets lower when the engine is warm, but is still there. Its allmost the same sound as on the old BMW E36's the kids in my street have, and Im pretty sure that on those cars its the valves. But on mine?

The milage is about 60k.

When was the oil last changed? and have you checked the oil level?

The oil whas changed in June. I checked it the last time about a month ago. But I can do it again just to be sure.

I also read in another post that the batteri may be reason behind the strange startup-idle. I have a huge charger I can put on tonight just to be sure.

Due to the electronic nature of these cars a failing battery can all sorts of weird things to happen, I would have it checked out if it keeps happening.
