Two things to consideer, the part of the country you live in and your zest for cleanliness. If you live where there is more overcast than sunlight, I prefer the silver grey. In So. Cal type light, the TSII is rich. Having had both, I find I wash the SG much less. In fact, I only notice the SG is dirty because of the wheels, which are dirty in no time.

For me it came down to Silver Gray or Sapphire Black. Having owned Black in the past, and knowing the extra maintenance and angst this color causes, I opted for the safe choice. I love any shade of black when its clean, but driving 3-400 miles a week as I do and having 2 sons age 3 and 6, black would be too much work.Plus anytime a car maker features a color as BMW has done w/ Silver Gray on the 5, there were many pics. and view angles to judge the color by in advance.
I vote Silver Gray as it is easy to maintain, looks great , and shows off all the curves and creases in the body.

I like both colors but the choice was made for me. I wanted the Beige interior, which cannot be paired with Ti Gray (not sure why). So I'm going with Silver Gray and am really happy with it.

550i SilverGrey Sports, Winter, Prem Pkg, Prem sound, NAV, HUD, comfort seats
Saw a silver grey in the garage where I parked today. Its is nice.
I havent seen them side by side but the silver grey did show off the lines nicely.
I live in New England and am a little lazy about washing cars

My wife is Chinese
I used to tease her in front of her Mom by saying she was "too expensive"
in Mandarin that's "tai guay" so it might be good to get "ti gray"
